Job description

Position Summary:
Responsible for overseeing the processing of company payroll and corporate Time and Attendance.
Ensures accurate calculation of wages, tax withholdings, and company deductions. Ensures proper
governmental reporting and compliance. Prepares statistical reports as needed. Directs the activities of
a staff of payroll administrators.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Processing payroll for both exempt and non-exempt employees
2. Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
3. Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports
4. Understand proper tax treatment and processing requirements for wages and employer paid
benefits
5. Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance
6. Receive and document any necessary approvals prior to processing any non-standard payments
7. Prepares and generates ACA (Affordable Care Act) data and submits to IRS
8. Process accurate and timely year-end reporting (W-2, W-2c, etc.)
9. Work with accounting team to calculate and update any accruals for non-standard payments
10. Process manual checks when needed
11. Update and reconcile statements from ADP
12. Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed
13. Monitors changes and remains current on legal, regulatory or governmental requirements (e.g.,
wage and hour, garnishments, tax matters, 401(k) and other benefit deductions)
14. Oversees the preparation of required reports or payments to government agencies, insurance
companies, or other organizations.
15. Oversees Time & Attendance system setup and time reporting; performing audits as needed
16. Oversees the payroll processing activities for the payroll department, which includes work
allocation, problem resolution and training
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration or related field or an equivalent
combination of education and experience
2. Minimum of 5 years’ experience calculating and processing in-house payroll
3. Prior supervisor experience preferred
4. Prior experience with HR/Payroll ERP, time and general ledger systems required
5. Experience with PeopleSoft or Oracle preferred
6. Minimum of 1 year of payroll tax preparation experience strongly preferred
7. Experience in a school district or intermediate unit preferred
8. Base knowledge of applicable Federal and State HR/Payroll Laws (FMLA, FLSA, e.g.) and IRS
regulations that impact payroll
9. Excellent processing skills and attention to detail
10. Ability to meet deadlines
11. Excellent written and oral communication skills
12. Self-motivated, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative, and responsible
13. Must be detail oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced and rapidly changing
environment
14. Ability and experience working as a member of a team
